How it all started?

Bridgeport Cricket Club was established in 1978 playing in the Connecticut Cricket League. The Club’s home ground at the time was at East Side Middle School on Palisade Avenue. In 1987 the team broke up and did not play cricket for many years. Many of the Bridgeport Cricket Club players went on to play cricket with Norwalk CC and New Haven CC. In 1992 the club was reestablished under the name of Yellow Bird Cricket Club. In 1997 the cricket club separated from the Yellow Bird Social Club and was renamed Bridgeport Cricket Club. In the same year, Bridgeport Cricket Club won the championship in the Connecticut Cricket League.

In 2002 BCC broke away from the Connecticut Cricket League along with 6 other clubs to form the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association. In the same year BCC home ground was moved to Bullard Havens Regional Vocational Technical High School where we played cricket for one year.

In 2003 BCC established a relationship with the City of Bridgeport Parks Department and lobbied to obtain a new cricket ground that could be called home, hence, bringing us to Newfield Park on the East Side of Bridgeport

Since the inception of the Southern Connecticut Cricket Association, BCC has bragging rights to three consecutive championships (2002, 2003 and 2004)

Bridgeport Cricket Club loves to travel and travels all over to play cricket (example, Jamaica, Canada, Baltimore, New York City, Long Island, Rochester.) to name a few places. BCC prides itself in establishing long lasting relationships with other cricket clubs as well as non-cricket organizations.

Bridgeport Cricket Club players and members hails from Jamaica, Pakistan, India and Grenada. We embrace all cultures and welcome everyone with open arms. We look forward to adding and grooming younger players so they may carry on the BCC winning tradition.

For all involved with BCC, Bridgeport Cricket Club is a home away from home. We are a family.
